Easter is a time of year when spring is well and truly in the air, as well as being a special opportunity to celebrate a major milestone in the religious calendar. Leicester Cathedral is an ideal location to experience a church service for the Easter weekend, but if you’re also looking at Easter as a chance to enjoy some amazing food that can commemorate the occasion, Leicester Market has you covered. And with us being just a short walk away from the cathedral, you could stock up on your Easter treats all in one go! As for what you can expect to find? Here are some examples:

Fruit and Vegetables

Enjoy your five a day courtesy of our world-famous outdoor market! We’ve got a wide range of the freshest fruit and vegetable goods available from a whole host of top-quality traders. Whether it’s green beans, carrots, asparagus, corn, or any other similar delicacies, we’ve got you covered. Look out for the likes of Vicki’s Fruits, Christine’s Worldly Foods, Teresa’s Salads and Mr Garcia amongst others to make sure you get the finest fruit and vegetables in time for your big Easter meal.

Fresh Meat

Alternatively, if you would prefer something that quite literally has more meat on the bone, then we recommend our excellent range of butchers that set up shop here at Leicester Market. This covers everything from ham and pork to beef and poultry, along with plenty of other unique treats that you could only find when you come and pay us a visit. Keep an eye out for Keith Ashmore’s Quality Butchers, Andrew Sykes Butchers and Country Fayre if you want the very best meat on your dinner table this Easter.

The Finest Fish

Remember that on Good Friday, it’s a Christian tradition to not eat meat, and so the most popular alternative tends to be fish. So, the good news for you is that Leicester Market will leave you spoilt for choice when it comes to fish options. We would strongly recommend Gibson’s Fishmongers and Trawlerman to give just two examples. As a further alternative, perhaps cheese could be on your menu, in which case you should definitely check out Sherwin’s Cheese Company.

Don’t Forget Your Cards!

So, you’ve stocked up on all the food, but are you forgetting something? Here at Leicester Market, our traders also provide the very best cards and balloons for those who want to take their Easter celebrations to the next level. This is especially advisable for any shoppers with young children that want to fully immerse themselves into the Easter weekend. So, make sure to visit Neil’s Cards and Gifts so that you come away from the market with everything that you need.

We hope that we have given you some food for thought ahead of Easter 2024, and we look forward to welcoming you to Leicester Market soon.
