Shoppers Enjoy a Brace of Market Events
Shoppers in Leicester were treated to back-to-back events at Leicester Market over the course of 10 and 11 June 2017, as this month’s Vegan Fair followed Party in the Piazza, celebrating World Gin Day.
Saturday (10 June) evening saw people come together to celebrate a drink that has grown massively in popularity – gin. Hosted by local distillery Burleighs, who early this year unveiled a world first-ever Leicester Dry Gin in partnership with Leicester City Football Club, those in attendance were treated to live music, street food and, of course, gin – prepared in a range of exciting concoctions.
The following day, Sunday 11 June, a mouth-watering range of vegan food and other produce was available at the Vegan Fair.
Leicester Vegan Community ran the event – which returned to the market after a successful launch last year.
With around 50 stalls on offer, visitors were able to sample hot and cold vegan food and artisan bakery delights, as well as browse for vegan-friendly ingredients, clothing, cosmetics and gifts.
There was also a family area packed with craft activities for children, and information and advice for anyone who wanted to find out more about veganism.
The event was run by volunteers from the Leicester Vegan Community, a not-for-profit group that aims to promote a vegan lifestyle and showcase the food, drink and other produce that can be enjoyed without animal ingredients.
Another Vegan Fair is to be hosted at Leicester Market on Sunday 3 September.
