Leicester Market came to a standstill as shoppers and traders pay their respects on Remembrance Day.

On Friday 11th November, a small service of remembrance will took place in Leicester Market from 10.50am.

Members of the Royal British Legion gathered for the commemorative service, which was led by Reverend Canon Karen Rooms from Leicester Cathedral, and the Lord Mayor was also be in attendance to give a speech.

At 11:00am, a bugler sounded ‘The Last Post’ to mark the beginning of two minutes of silence. Reveille was also played to mark the end of the silence, before the Archdeacon lead prayers and a blessing.

The Market’s annual Remembrance Day service has become a focal point for people wanting to take time out of their busy working day to show their respects.
