Marvellous Start for Makers’ Market
Last weekend saw the final Makers’ Market of 2017 take place in Leicester Market’s new Market Square, with the specialist market event enjoying a marvellous start since commencing in August.
Becoming the first specialist market to hit the brand-new open space at Leicester Market, the Makers’ Market showcases the talents of some of our county’s most exciting makers and creatives who make, bake, create and source the products they sell right here in Leicestershire, which ensures their goods are uniquely ‘brand Leicester’.
Growing sizably since August, the first event included 12 stalls. The latest Makers’ Market, held on Sunday 5 November, saw 30 traders provide unique offerings to shoppers.
With more people within Leicester commencing their Christmas shopping early this year, the Makers’ Market drew more people in, with many keen to get their hands on special gifts ahead of the festive season getting underway.
Also coming to an end for 2017 is the weekly Antiques Market; another fantastic addition to Market Square, held every Monday. The reception for the Antiques Market has been outstanding also, with many turning out each week to trawl unearthed treasures in search of something special.
The Makers’ Market and Antiques Market will return in full in 2018, with both set to get underway from March as the Makers’ Market returns on the first Sunday of each month and the Antiques Market remaining every Monday.
In addition our Makers’ Market traders will still be available at Leicester’s Christmas Market, running from 23 November to 23 December. Two stalls will see regular Makers’ Market traders rotate regularly to ensure that shoppers are able to access any gifts they were unable to pick up.
Leicester Market is working on putting together a regular programme of events to be held on Market Square, which will take place on Sundays throughout each month. Watch this space for details as and when they’re confirmed.
