Leicester Market to Host St George’s Day Festivities

April 11, 2017

Leicester’s annual St George’s Day Festival takes place on Saturday 22 April, with Leicester Market set to host a family-friendly re-enactment of St George’s rescue of a damsel in distress at the hands of a dastardly dragon.

Taking place between 11.00am and 1.00pm, LU Theatre – the theatre society of the University of Leicester – will be delivering their unique telling of the classic tale.

In what is the third year of LU Theatre’s involvement, the society have also written a script that features a few modern-day, local references to provide a bit of tongue-in-cheek humour.

The performance is taking place on the same day as the St George’s Day Festival, which is taking place in Orton Square next to Curve Theatre. For more information, please CLICK HERE

Shoppers in Leicester are welcome to join Leicester Market for the performances, and enjoy a celebration of St George’s Day!

The Market will be open in full to allow you to browse some amazing produce and items on sale, whilst a limited number of free roses will be handed out at each performance.

We look forward to seeing you there!
