Flipping Good Fun at Leicester MarketMarch 2, 2017
Leicester Market celebrated Shrove Tuesday the only way it knows how on Tuesday 28 February – by hosting its annual Pancake Race whilst serving up delicious pancakes to shoppers in aid of local hospice, LOROS.
In what has become a time-honoured tradition at Leicester Market, teams representing the Market’s outdoor traders, Food Hall traders, LOROS, Cambridge & Counties Bank, Lloyds Weatherspoons Corn Exchange, Hastings Direct and ITV Central all took part in a Pancake Race around the Market – with racers attempting to run whilst flipping their pancakes. Even ITV Central weatherman Dez Coleman gave up his morning to take part in the event!
The winners at the end of the contest were the Market’s outdoor traders, who won their second Pancake Race in three years, snatching the title from reigning holders – the Food Hall traders.
In addition to the Pancake Race, shoppers were treated to delicious, fresh pancakes, with all proceeds raised on the day going directly to LOROS. In total, a fantastic £163.13 was raised for the Leicestershire hospice.
Leicester Market would like to thank everybody who gave up their time to take part, whether it be racing or cooking pancakes – with additional thanks to everybody for donating generously to LOROS.
