Over the Easter weekend we were pleased to have over 150 children take part in our events at Leicester Market and Beaumont Leys Market.

On Good Friday, an Easter egg drawing contest was held at Beaumont Leys Market – which was the first time such a competition has been hosted there.

Over 75 children took part before two winners were drawn out of the vast amount of brilliant drawings.

The fantastic weather meant large crowds attended, with plenty getting involved in the free circus activities and queuing to have their faces painted.

At Leicester Market, Saturday 26 March saw the return of the annual Easter Bonnet Competition – where six children won brand new bikes.

With over 80 entries, Councillors Dawn Alfonso and Paul Westley, and PCSO Jane Elton had a tough job in picking the winners.

To mark the first anniversary of Richard III’s re-interment, the event had a medieval twist – with a themed fayre and entertainment.

There was an incredible turnout, and crowds gathered to see the various demonstrations.

Everyone at Leicester Market and Beaumont Leys Market would like to thank all those who attended, and are looking forward to upcoming events at the markets – details of which can be found by clicking here
