Development Begins to Take Shape

December 2, 2013

As work continues on Leicester Market’s new indoor market development, the shape and structure of the food hall begins to become apparent.

Scheduled for an Easter 2014 opening, the new indoor market development is to now rapidly take shape, with laminated beams shortly set to arrive to add to the near-completed structure.

Meanwhile, food traders have been working closely with staff at the Market to select their fixtures and fittings, including top of the range specialist food counters.

When they move in to their new home at Easter, food traders will enjoy a bright and airy environment, with suspended lamps and natural daylight ensuring that the space is well lit.

Insulated floors and ceilings will keep working conditions comfortable – and new layouts will help create an authentic market atmosphere.

Glued laminated timber beams will form large, clear spans, minimising the need for columns and maximising the flexibility of the useable floor space.
