Continental Market Heads to Leicester

Gallowtree and Humberstone Gate are set to be jam-packed with culture as over 50 Continental traders from all corners of the globe visit Leicester at the end of October.

Over five days there will be freshly cooked foods, unique gifts and crafts as well as a fantastic energetic family atmosphere from Wednesday 28th October to Sunday 1st November 2015.

Continental Horse 300x400Just a few of the countries set to be represented at the Continental Market include India, Jamaica, South Africa, Germany, Greece, Poland and Italy.

Some of the tasty treats which will be drawing in shoppers include authentic Indian cooking sauces and foods, a selection of cheeses from across the globe, freshly cooked French crepes and breads, a huge range of olives, Spanish paella, and a Thai Noodle Bar. There will also be a German Schwenkgrille tempting shoppers to see which they like best, Bratwurst or Currywurst.

All of this can be washed down with a refreshing Fair Trade Coffee or Tea, as Jimmy Bean has over 50 different flavours including strawberries and cream, Tennessee Whisky, English Toffee, vanilla and coconut to name but a few.

Local traders The Cherry Tree will also be visiting the Continental Market, selling homemade jams, chutneys, preserves and curds – all made using ingredients from nearby areas.

There will also be a selection of craft, gifts and unique products including bonsai trees, Fairtrade carved wooden models and figurines, number of flower pot people, jewellery as well as a gigantic Dutch Flower Market complete with bulbs, flowers, plants and little homemade characters for your home or garden.

As such a diverse city itself, we are always really welcomed and the city is always thriving. We always bring such a great variety of traders and this October will be no different; there is sure to be something for everyone!”

Opening hours of the Continental Market will be Wednesday to Saturday, 9:00am to 6:00pm and Sunday, 10:00am to 5:00pm.

Leicester’s Outdoor Market and Food Hall will both be open as usual throughout the Continental visit, so shoppers will have a bumper number of stalls to visit throughout the week.

The Outdoor Market is open between 7:00am and 6:00pm Monday to Saturday and the Food Hall is open from 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Saturday.
