Cranberry sauce is a perfect accompaniment to your turkey on Christmas day, or to go with any sandwiches you make with your leftovers.

This year impress your family and friends with your own homemade sauce, by following this quick and easy recipe – which can be served hot or cold.

To make enough to serve six you will need:

  • 350g cranberries
  • 225ml orange juice (we suggest making your own fresh juice with oranges from Leicester Market)
  • 200g caster sugar

  1. Pour the orange juice into a medium saucepan, and place this over a medium heat.
  2. Gradually stir in the sugar until it dissolves completely into the juice.
  3. After this, add the cranberries to the mixture and cook until they start to pop – which should take around 10 minutes.
  4. Then transfer this mixture to a bowl, the sauce will then thicken as it cools.

The Outdoor Market is home to a range of fresh fruit and vegetable traders, and is open from 7:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Saturday.
