Summer Fun at Market Fete

August 3, 2016

On Friday 29th July, Leicester Market’s Market Square was transformed as it hosted its very own mini fete in aid of Leicester Children’s Holiday Centre (Mablethorpe), the Lord Mayor’s Appeal.

Following a fantastic day of fundraising, a total of £796.32 was raised on the day, including two separate cheque donations of £100 and £150 respectively.

Summer-Fete-04A vast array of activities were on offer for the whole family, providing a wonderful country fete feel in the middle of Leicester city centre.

With a face-painter and a balloon modeller on hand for the kids, shoppers were also treated to fantastic displays provided by a giant bubble blower, which some may have seen at other events at Leicester Market, producing some amazing bubbles that adults and children alike enjoyed.

In addition, the Leicester Market mini fete ran its very own traditional tombola, drawn by the Lord Mayor of Leicester Cllr Stephen Corrall, with a variety of prizes up for grabs donated by Leicester Market and businesses across the city. Amongst the prizes was Market Money – which people can spend at Leicester Market Food Hall – Leicester Monopoly, the Leicestershire and Rutland cookbook and more.

Summer-Fete-02Shoppers were also treated to free food samples from Leicester Market.

Many thanks to everybody for coming down and congratulations to all our tombola winners on the day.
